I have a bunch of hats and scarves that I have sewn out of polar fleece and am looking to find a place to donate them to. Do you accept handmade items like this, or do you only donate knit/crochet? Please let me know – I’m not in the area, but would be happy to send a box to you if the donation would be helpful.

My mother is interested in being a volunteer. She is 80 yrs old and has no transportation. She has made hat and scarf sets for the last few yrs and donated them to the Wayside Cross Mission in Pueblo. She spends so much money on all the yarn that she really cant afford being on SS. ( She made 40 sets last year alone) I have tried helping her by purchasing yarn for her but she still buys more. She enjoys doing this and always makes the donation anonymous. It gives her something to do and feeling of contribution to help those in need. She lives in Pueblo County and doesnt think you will come out to her house. Can you help her out?

I got this pattern that can be used for making scarves or blankets from the book “knit & Purl” -Erika Knight.
Thought I would share it so we can make some nice pretty scarves.
It is called the Loop pattern(in plain English):
Multiple of 2+2 (eg:- cast on 4 stitches + another 2 stitches)
Row 1(right side):- Knit all stitches
2nd row:- *knit 1 stitch, slip 1 stitch; rep from * to last 2 stitches, now knit last 2 stitches.
    3rd row:- knit all stitches.
4th row:- knit 2 stitches, *slip one 1 stitch, knit 1, rep from * to end.
    Rep these 4 rows.

    In knitting abbreviations:-
    [multiple 2+2]
    Row 1(RS):- knit.
    2nd row:- *k1, sl 1; rep from *to last 2 sts, k2.
    3rd row:-knit.
    4th row:- k2, *sl 1, k1, rep from * to end.
    Rep these 4 rows.

I am sorry instead of 4th row being:- knit 2 stitches, *slip one 1 stitch, knit 1, rep from * to end.

It is Knit 2 stitches, *slip one stitch , knit 1, rep from * to end.
